GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION

Xuan Phu Commune is located 10 km west of Xuan Loc District center and 65 km
from Bien Hoa City. The commune is crossed by National Highway 1A with the total
length of 5.8 km.

administrative boundary of the commune is as follows:

north borders Xuan Tho Commune (Xuan Loc District, Dong Nai Province)
+ Its
west borders Bao Hoa Commune (Xuan Loc District, Dong Nai Province)
+ Its
east borders Suoi Cat and Lang Minh Communes (Xuan Loc District, Dong Nai
Province)
+ Its
south borders Xuan Tay Commune (Cam My District, Dong Nai Province)
Xuan
Phu Commune has the total natural area of 3,857.2 hectares and a population of
16,496 people.

Xuan
Phu Commune consists of five hamlets, including Binh Hoa, Binh Tan, Binh Tien,
Binh Xuan 1, Binh Xuan 2 Hamlets.

The
commune has two types of terrain:

Flat topography: The flat terrain along streams occupies 40 percent of the
natural area.

High topography: National Highway 1A in the north makes up 60 percent of the
area.

Sloping topography: Average altitude of 3 - 80 degrees; relative altitude of 1
meters; relative altitude of 4 meters;

Xuan
Phu Commune is located in the tropical monsoon zone with two seasons: the rainy
season lasts from May to November. Average temperatures: 300 degrees Celsius;

Founding process: Before 1975, it was called Binh Phu Commune. After the South’s
complete liberation and the country unification the commune was established in
1976 and has been named as Xuan Phu Commune.
5. POPULATION

Total population: 16,596 people; Total number of households: 3,651 families

Ethnicity: There are 13 ethnic groups in the commune, of which ethnic minorities
account for about 24 percent, including Chinese, Tay, Nung, Ch’ro and others,
mainly living in Binh Tien and Binh Hoa Hamlets.

Religion: There are three parishes in the commune, namely Thai Thien, Gia Gia,
and Binh Hoa, and two pagodas, namely Linh Phu Pagoda, Duoc Su Pagoda. There are
two main religions, namely Buddhism and Christianity. The number of religious
followers accounts for about 30 percent of the total population.
