Many high technologies were successfully transferred
from Project 1816
Lately, to monitor the province’s implementation of
Project 1816, the Ministry of Health’s working delegation led by Mr. Cao Hung
Thai, Deputy Director of Department of Medical Exam and Treatment Management at
the Ministry of Health had a working session with Dong Nai Thong Nhat General
Hospital, Trang Bom District Health Center, Dong Nai Children’s Hospital and
Dong Nai General Hospital. At the working session with the mission, units
reported on their achievements, difficulties and weaknesses during the
implementation of the province. The highlight shows that the implementation of
the Project has gradually modernized the health sector of Dong Nai province and
improved medical examination and treatment services.
According to the report by Dong Nai General
Hospital, General Surgery Department, Dong Nai General Hospital is a satellite
unit of the Department of Gastroenterology at Cho Ray Hospital. In the past
years, thanks to the implementation of more modern techniques from the satellite
hospital project, the number of cases that need to be transferred every year has
decreased, with 12 cases of patients being transferred every year in serious
medical conditions such as heart failure, kidney failure, and so on.
Recently, the delegation of Cho Ray Hospital has
also worked with Dong Nai General Hospital on how to connect with the
implementation of the satellite hospital project. After listening to Dong Nai
General Hospital give a general report on the development of human resources,
equipment, and so on. The mission highly appreciated the existing resources of
Dong Nai General Hospital with a lot of advantages compared to those of regional
hospitals such as facilities, modern medical equipment, abundant, experienced,
and highly specialized human resources, and a caring and facilitating Board of
Directors. These advantages will help Dong Nai General Hospital to receive and
implement the contents effectively in the implementation of Project 1816 and
supervise the implementation of the satellite hospital project and soon turn
Dong Nai General Hospital into a regional respiratory center in the coming time.
At Thong Nhat Dong Nai General Hospital, thanks to
the implementation of Project 1816 the effective implementation of the satellite
hospital project of higher-level hospitals, in recent years Thong Nhat General
Hospital has received support from higher-level hospitals in Ho Chi Minh city
such as Cho Ray hospital, Tu Du hospital, and Orthopedic Trauma hospital.
Accordingly, the hospital has implemented more modern techniques. The highlight
is the Cardiovascular Intervention Center of Dong Nai Thong Nhat General
Hospital. Bringing the center into operation, up to now about 3,000 coronary
intervention cases have been taken. The rate of hospital transfer cases also
decreases significantly year by year. According to the hospital’s report, in
2014 the rate of patients with cardiovascular diseases from Dong Nai Thong Nhat
General Hospital transferred to higher-level hospitals was 38%. In terms of
open-heart surgery techniques, the hospital has performed 5 cases, including 1
emergency surgery. The open heart surgery still needs support from the doctors
of Cho Ray Hospital.
In addition to receiving high and modern
technologies transferred from higher-level hospitals, in recent years thanks to
the implementation of Project 1816 provincial-level hospitals have been able to
increase their human resources to support lower-level hospitals
In addition to receiving high and modern
technologies from higher-level hospitals, in recent years thanks to the
implementation of Project 1816, provincial hospitals have strengthened their
human resources to support lower-level hospitals and transfer technologies. In
the spirit of all-heart support, the quality of examination and treatment
activities has been increasingly improved and the quality of services has also
been able to meet people’s needs.
According to Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department
of Health Phan Huy Anh Vu, Project 1816 is both an opportunity and a condition
for hospitals at provincial to regional and district levels to develop their
techniques, improve their positions and create conditions so that locals can
enjoy high technology locally. The implementation of the project has really
enhanced the capacity of medical examination and treatment for satellite
hospitals and training, technology transfer, facilities improvement, and
equipment upgrading have been able to help patients to gain an access to
high-quality medical examination and treatment services in satellite hospitals
instead of having them transferred to higher-level hospitals.
