Coordinating to implement solutions for preventing and controlling African swine fever in localities Update 30-07-2019 11:06
According to the provincial Department of Veterinary Medicine, until June 3 3,508 communes and 337 districts of 52 provinces and cities were affected by African swine fever with a total of nearly 2.2 million destroyed pigs. Particularly, no outbreaks have been detected in 112 communes in 61 districts for 30 days.

Particularly, outbreaks occurred in 33 livestock households in 13 communes of the districts of Vinh Cuu, Trang Bom, Long Thanh and Nhon Trach in Dong Nai and a total number of 7,300 pigs were destroyed. During the current outbreak, Dong Nai has been actively reducing the herd of pigs. Therefore, the province now has only about 1.8 million pigs.

To deal with this situation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued a document on how to strengthen the prevention and control of African swine fever in the Eastern and Southwestern region.

Also, the Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee has issued a document directing the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with concerned departments and agencies and People’s Committees of districts, and Long Khanh and Bien Hoa cities to implements the documents of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Accordingly, to prevent African swine fever from spreading widely, Department of Veterinary Medicine and Sub-Departments of Veterinary Medicine in regions 6 and 7 and the Departments of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine in the provinces and cities in the Southeast region and Southwestern have cooperated to implement solutions for preventing and controlling diseases.

In particular, it is necessary to focus on closely monitoring the development of African swine fever in the area, promptly reviewing, adjusting, supplementing and implementing drastically response plans to the epidemic. Also, localities are supposed to increase their frequency of disinfection of livestock areas, places around livestock areas, roads and public areas in commune-level localities every day and simultaneously disseminate propaganda information to households and ask them to clean up the environment and reduce the spread of pathogens.

Provinces and cities are supposed to establish working teams and assign officials to update the development of diseases every day. Also, localities continue to review the routes that can transport pigs to localities to establish mobile inspection teams or control posts in the area to promptly detect violations.
