Industry and Small-handicraft industries

* Area and operation of industrial zones (if any): There are no industrial zones located in the commune.

* Operation of some typical enterprises:

An Vien Rubber Farm is located in the commune.

* Commune workforce, industrial potential and industrial development orientation:

- The local workforce is abundant with the working age group accounting for nearly 70 percent of the population, but the majority of skilled workers are working in industrial parks in the province and Ho Chi Minh City.

- Binh An commune is an agricultural commune, with its industrial potential and local industrial development orientation included in a long-term plan.

Agro-forestry and aquaculture

* Agriculture: the area of ​​agricultural land in the commune, crops (fruit) with agricultural advantages in the commune, operation of poultry husbandry in the commune:

- Area of ​​agricultural land: 2,752.61 ha;

- Major crops: fruit trees (durian, rambutan, mangosteen, and dragon fruit) and rice, and corn.

- Livestock and poultry husbandry:

+ Total cattle herd: 5,556 heads (5,010 pigs: and 546 cows);

+ Total poultry: 13,880 heads (4000 chickens, 6,850 ducks, 1,460 musk ducks, 10 geese and 1,560 pigeons).

* Aquaculture: water surface area for aquaculture, annual catches and development orientation: Binh An commune has about 1.36 ha of scattered water surface for aquaculture, used for intensive and semi-intensive farming, mainly freshwater fish, with one crop per year and average yield of about 9.1 tons per ha. In the future, Binh An commune does not promote the development of aquaculture.

- The labor structure of the commune: the total labor force is 6,976 people, accounting for 78 percent of the total population of the commune, of which the workforce in services and trade is 558 people, making up 8 percent of the total labor of the commune.

- Facts of trade and services in the commune: Services and trade account for 30 percent of the local economic structure. Currently, the commune has 4 facilities doing business in services sector and 210 establishments in commerce. Overall, the growth is stable.

Education

* List of schools in the commune:

There are 4 schools, including:

- Binh An Secondary School;

- Binh An Primary School;

- Binh An Kindergarten;

- An Vien Preschool;

* Number of teachers by school:

- Binh An Secondary School: 31 teachers (19 above-standard teachers, 10 qualified teachers and 2 managers).

- Binh An Primary School: 32 teachers (3 qualified teachers, 27 above-standard teachers, 2 managers).

- Binh An Kindergarten: 10 teachers (3 qualified teachers, 5 above-standard teachers, 2 managers).

- An Vien Preschool: 23 teachers (10 qualified teachers, 10 above-standard teachers, 3 managing teachers).

- Preschool: 243 children;

- Binh An Kindergarten: 151 children;

- Binh An Primary School: 622 students;

- Binh An Secondary School: 508 students;

* Information about the communal library:

There are 580 books, including 95 books of children's stories; 108 books of history and geography; 75 books of politics; 80 books of science, 130 books of novels and literature; and 92 books of other genres. The ​​reading room covers 15 sq. m. The library opens in the morning (7:00 AM to 11:00 PM) every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The number of regular members (cards issued) is 22 members. On average the number of people coming to read books is 22 readers per week.

* Education facts:

- The commune has 2 out of 4 schools meeting national standards. The rate of 5-year-old children entering kindergarten reach 99 percent; 6-year-old children entering Grade 1 reach 100 percent. 100 percent of children are of primary school age, the primary school graduation rate is 100 percent. The graduation rate of the secondary school is 99 percent.

- 100 percent of teachers meet the prescribed pedagogical standards, in which the number of above-standard teachers of kindergarten reaches 53.5 percent, primary schools 90 percent, and secondary school 65.5 percent.

100 percent of managers have reached the intermediate level of politics.

Healthcare

* Number of medical staff working at the commune health station: 7 people, a head of the station (doctor), 2 physicians (intermediate), a nurse (intermediate), a midwife (intermediate), a pharmacist (intermediate), a population official (intermediate).

* Information about the commune's health station: it was built in 2013, with an area of ​​600 sq. m, including a ground floor, a first floor, 10 beds, a cardiac meter, a dental chair, a B&W ultrasound machine, a laboratory microscopic surface urinal analyzer and other equipment for medical examination and treatment.

* Medical services provide people with medical examination and treatment on weekdays while on emergency duty on weekend and supply amounts of essential drugs in line with regulations.

Culture

* Information about the communal cultural house:

- The Center for Culture, Sports & Community Learning has the total area of ​​14,320.3 sq. m., with the construction area of 527.1 sq. m, officially put into operation in 2004, including 4 delicate rooms (a room for broadcasting, an office of the deputy director in charge of study promotion, a library, a meeting room) and a multi-purpose cultural hall with 250 seats. In addition, each hamlet has a cultural house, which is the workplace of the hamlet’s People's Committee and a place for meetings and learning of people in the hamlet.

The center includes 4 staff: a director, a deputy director, an accountant, a cashier, operating according to the issued regulations.

The whole commune has a football field, 4 volleyball courts and 06 badminton courts.

* Information about the Cultural Post Office:

There are a post and telecommunications service point, covering ​​150 sq. m (the Post Office) and 5 out of 5 hamlets with internet access (with 6 radio  stations, 3 of Viettel, 2 of Mobifone: and one of Vinaphone), meeting the needs of post and telecommunications.

The commune Cultural Post Office is open to work on weekdays (including Sundays) to meet the needs of people. Following the direction of the province, the Post Office has implemented multiple services and public services at level 3 and level 4, promptly meeting the locals’ needs.

* Cultural activities in the commune:

- Propaganda works: conducting propaganda on local cultural, political and social events;

- Hanging banners and decorating public places to celebrate major holidays and local events;

- Organizing exchanges, competitions, shows about culture, arts, sports and sports for the people (football, volleyball, badminton, aerobic, nursing, chess, entertainment, etc.);

- Clubs are stably operating.

- Coordinating relevant sectors to organize vocational training courses for rural workers;

- Coordinating relevant agencies in organizing job placement for rural workers.

Development orientation

As an agricultural commune with agricultural advantages, so the direction of local economic development eyes towards 60 percent of agriculture, 20 percent of trade, 20 percent of services, 60 percent of agro-forestry-fishery, 20 percent of trade and 20 percent of services.
