Promoting the research, application and transfer of science and technology advances Update 23-06-2020 02:45
Being honored to be one of the outstanding collectives of Dong Nai province to be awarded the Third-Class Labor Medal, the Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances at Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology has, in recent years, achieved a lot of important results in the field of verifying, calibrating and testing types of measuring instruments; checking quality control of modern image diagnosis equipment in the field of medicine; coordinating to assess hundreds of rooms where X-ray machines are placed in Dong Nai province. Also, the Center has obtained a lot of achievements in giving counseling and building the systems of quality management, information security, energy auditing, and so on.

Promoting the testing of measuring instruments

In the field of verification, calibration and testing, in the past 5 years the Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances has completed the assessment and recognition of expanding its testing capability; inspecting, calibrating and testing X-ray and radiation safety of 146,352 measuring instruments of all kinds. Particularly, there were 20,494 instruments in 2010, 27,187 instruments in 2011, 29,404 instruments in 2012, 32,915 instruments in 2013 and 36,352 instruments of all types in 2014, which went through inspection, calibration, testing, labor safety testing, X-ray inspection and radiation safety assessment.

In terms of research and application, the Center has applied the standard of KNX/EIB (konnex: a global standard for the smart system of managing and controlling buildings) in the smart control for the building of the Calibration and Testing Center in Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province; performed the quality inspection of 145 X-ray machines and 9 CT machines; assessed radiation safety for 104 rooms where X-ray machines are located.

In addition, in the past 5 years the Center has coordinated with the Inspectorate of Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology to inspect 131 rooms for X-ray machines in Dong Nai province. The number of machines going through X-ray inspection, radiation safety assessment, and non-destructive testing increased by 20% compared to 2013. Also, 350 dosimeters were supplied for the facilities that use X-ray machines, up by 100% compared to 2013.

Over the past years, the Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances has paid much attention to energy efficiency. Accordingly, since 2010 the Center has conducted energy auditing for 15 units at a cost of VND450 million; supported the construction of a vertical continuous brick kiln; collected energy consumption of 50 businesses for 5 industries: ceramics, tiles, food processing, textiles, and paper; coordinated with the Division of Economics and Infrastructure of Thong Nhat district to carry out the program of “Using energy efficiently in Thong Nhat district in the period of 2012-2014”; given an annual support to businesses participating in the program of energy auditing (17 businesses are supported with the total fund of nearly VND1.5 billion and the costs saved from energy efficiency are about VND16 billion).

Professional activities at the Center

The Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances has registered to deploy 3 scientific research projects including researching, designing, and manufacturing equipment for weighing and inspecting overloaded vehicles; established a database of Radon gas in Dong Nai province and taken measures to reduce the impacts on people; researched, designed and manufactured measuring and monitoring instruments for petrol tanks. Additionally, the summary report of the theme of “Building a database on the radioactive background in Xuan Loc, Dinh Quan, Tan Phu and Vinh Cuu districts in Dong Nai province and assessing the impacts on the environment”. In 2014, the Center was officially appointed as a unit eligible for technical safety inspection activities, according to Decision No. 466/QD-ATL dated November 21, 2014 of Director of Dong Nai Department of Occupational Safety. In 2014, 1,168 instruments of all kinds were tested, up by 50% compared to 2013. Mr. Nguyen Phu Tinh, Director of the Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances, said: “To perform tasks of applying and deploying scientific and technological advances in all fields of production and socio-economic life in the past 5 years and to conduct research activities in recent years, the Center has transferred many new technology contracts, scientific research projects under socio-economic development programs from levels of districts and sectors to the province to cooperation projects with the central government, other provinces and foreign countries in the field of science and technology. The highlight is the project of “Building a database of radioactive background in Xuan Loc, Dinh Quan, Tan Phu and Vinh Cuu districts of Dong Nai province and assessing the impacts on the environment”. This is the next step of the project of “Building a database of radioactive background in some areas in Dong Nai province and assessing the impacts on the environment” of Dr. Thai Khac Dinh with the aim of building a complete digital database and map for the whole province of Dong Nai. The analyzing results of the separate radioactive activities of 200 soil samples in the districts of Vinh Cuu, Tan Phu, Dinh Quan and Xuan Loc are lower than those of other parts of the country. On the basis of the research results of the project, 44 digital maps (each districts has 11 maps) on the radioactive background for have been built for the districts of Vinh Cuu, Tan Phu, Dinh Quan and Xuan Loc. Also, 11 comprehensive maps in the radioactive background for 4 districts, and 11 maps in the radioactive background for the whole province of Dong Nai were built.
