Socioeconomic Facts

 

1. Industry

The commune’s industry has not yet developed strongly, so it has no industrial park, having only a few small and medium firms, with some typical businesses, including

- Mr. To Phuong Khanh's starch production and processing establishment;

- An establishment raising clean chickens, processing canned food for export;

- The Dong Nai gas station, supplying petrol and oil for the commune.

To be able to keep up with the country's development pace, beside the available advantages of land, abundant labor force Tan Hiep commune has had its own development orientation in the coming time. Tan Hiep will build a relatively large scale small-handicraft zone spanning 70 ha to expand production and take advantage of potential labor force, contributing to improving people’s living standards, and taking the commune’s position to a new height.

2. Agro-forestry and Fishery

The commune has 645 ha of cultivated land​​, with its key crops including industrial crops such as rubber, pepper, and cashew, which are key export commodities of Vietnam and are of high value in recent years, covering ​​66.7 ha, of which pepper covers a quite small area of ​​5.5 ha, and cashew spans 210 ha.

Regarding forestry, the land area designated to this sector is quite large, 93.54 ha. Currently, the protective forest area is shrinking due to nomadism, deforestation, forest fires, etc. So the commune has focused on making adjustments and development of the sector.

The fishery and aquaculture sectors in the commune are not as developed as other sectors.

3. Trade,  Services and Tourism

This is a limited sector of Tan Hiep commune. Unions and people are striving to increase the performance of trade, services and tourism.

4. Education

This sector play an key roler in training talents for the country in general and for Tan Hiep commune in particular, so now the commune has made certain investments in the education. There are 3 schools situated in the commune.

- Tan Hiep Kindergarten has 7 classes, including 220 children and 10 teachers.

- Tan Hiep Primary School has 39 teachers, and 31 classes including 789 students.

- Tan Hiep Secondary School includes 739 students divided into 20 classes and 35 teachers.

With its school system, Tan Hiep can meet the learning needs of students in the commune. The locality has organized the universalization of primary education at the right age, the universalization of the secondary and high school levels. The commune is striving to build school facilities that meet the national standards. One more thing to be focused is that the commune needs to invest in establishing libraries to serve the learning needs of students in the commune.

5. Health

To protect community health, the commune has a team of dedicated and skilled nurses and doctors including 5 people including one doctor, 3 physicians and one midwife.

The health sector has effectively provided medical examination and treatment, conducted propaganda on environmental sanitation and implemented projects on community health protection, especially on taking care of young mothers and children’s health.

6. Culture

The commune’s cultural performance is quite vibrant and diverse with many useful activities.

The Culture House has been built for a long time, creating favorable conditions for many local activities, which is where activities and celebrations of traditional days take place.

In addition to the Culture House, the Community Learning Center has been concretely built since 2004 and enabled many useful activities. The center has opened many short-term vocational training courses for local people and surrounding communes such as classes of welding, home electric appliances, hair and makeup, bonsai care, etc.

To improve people's knowledge, the commune has over 600 books and newspapers.

People's IT levels have also been improved via opening computer skill classes for teens and youth wanting to access the Internet; initially the commune is equipped with 5 computers.

Every year, cultural movements are regularly organized such as the celebrations of establishments of the Youth Union on March 26, the Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20, October 1, etc. Especially, the Fatherland Front organizes the All-People Solidarity Festival with many exciting emulation forms such as matches of football, volleyball, athletics, chess, and exchanges between typical cultured families in the commune.

In addition, Tan Hiep also has poetry clubs, music clubs, nursing clubs, chess clubs, which vibrantly operate monthly.
