The entire commune has 4,643
households, 17,034 people; temporary residence: 761 households with 2,425
people, of which 7,247 are female. The 15 year-old and above people are 10,321.
The number of Vietnamese people is predominant and local people follow
Christianity and Buddhism.
2. LAND
There are 3 groups of land in the
commune: gleysols, gray soil (Acrisols), and black soil (Luvisols), which are
divided into 9 units of soil grade III.
3.
AGRICULTURE
+ Cultivation: Total
cultivated area is 1,013 ha out of 1,376 ha, reaching 73.61 percent, in which
crop varieties include rice, corn, cassava, peanuts and vegetables of all kinds,
ect.
Due to prolonged droughts, the
crop-cultivated area did not meet the target. Average yield reached between 2.5
tons and 3 tons per ha. Pests and diseases on the crops have not caused a great
impact.
Perennial tree planting area: via
a survey there is 100 ha of existing fruit trees including durian, rambutan,
orange, mandarin, mango, and so on, mostly located in Xom Trau hamlet, Hamlet 3
and Bung Mon hamlet.
Industrial tree area: 140 ha of
rubber trees with an average yield of 60 liters per ha per day; 12 ha of coffee;
one ha of pepper and 60 ha cashew; about 140 of growing Melaleuca forests,
located in almost every hamlet, of which 40 hectares are newly reforested on the
exploited area.
Irrigation: The commune has Long
An dam, preventing Dong Hu stream from flowing into the one-ha small reservoir,
capable of irrigating about 375 ha of land beside 3.76 km-long and 3 m-wide
canal system to prepare to provide the winter-spring crop.
+ Husbandry: There are 9
farms in the commune (8 pig farms and one chicken farm, with a total of 111,889
heads.)
Authorities regularly monitor the
diseases in livestock and poultry; strengthen inspection and supervision of
slaughterhouses; small-scale business households selling animal products in the
commune; distribute livestock monitoring books to small livestock farmers; carry
out vaccination, cleane and spray antiseptics for cattle and poultries.
4.
INFRASTRUCTURE CONSTRUCTION
+ Electrical work
construction:
Lighting system was installed on
roads of all 8 hamlets, including Hamlet 1, Hamlet 2, Hamlet 3, Hamlet 4, An Lam
hamlet, Bung Mon hamlet, Xom Trau hamlet, and Xom Goc hamlet with the total
number of light bulbs of 939; total fund contributed by people: over VND1
billion. While in Xa Hoang hamlet, because of the Long Thanh International
Airport project, it is not implemented. The power use rate of households reaches
99.9 percent. The electrical system meets the technical requirements of the
electricity industry according to the Decision No. 34/2006/QD-BCN dated
September 13, 2006 by the Minister of Industry on electrical equipment safety
techniques, and electricity installation and use.
+ Rural roads: Currently,
the system of roads in the commune spans 95,200 km, of which national roads 51
and 25B cover 5.85 km, the rest is 89,350 km of rural roads run by districts and
communes; all hamlets have car-passable roads to the center. In recent years,
the road system in the commune has been a focus for investment; many traffic
works have been upgraded and expanded such as the inter-communal road (Bung Mon
road) connecting Long An commune with Loc Acommune and Binh Son commune;
inter-hamlet roads, stone quarry road 3. Commune main roads have basically been
asphalted or concreted and many village roads have been concreted or hardened.
The commune's traffic system in recent years (since the end of 2013) has been
invested in construction, which helps significantly change the look of the
commune.
However, at present, there are
still internal roads with an average roadbed width of about 3-5 m being earth
roads, making it difficult to travel, especially in the rainy months. Therefore,
the Commune People's Committee continues to apply for policies on investment and
upgrade in the coming time.
5. INDUSTRY
AND SMALL-HANDICRAFT INDUSTRIES
+ Industry: There are 60
companies and factories based in the commune munfacturinggarment, shoe soles,
bricks and gloves, ect. providing jobs for hundreds of workers in the commune
and from other localities.
+ Small and handicraft
industries: The situation of production and business, traditional industries
such as milling, food processing, civil carpentry and mechanical repair is
growing stable but still slow. Particularly, small business and services
households thrive but most are spontaneous, lack of concentration and
seasonally.
6. CULTURE AND
SOCIETY
+ Culture, society, and
sports:
Outcome of the movements: “All
people unite to build cultured life”: Total number of qualified households
/registered households of cultural family: 3,666 out of 3,687 households -
reaching 99.43 percent - exceeding the assigned target of 98 percent; “Building
cultural hamlet”: 8 out of 8 hamlets; reaching 100%, exceeding the assigned
target of 90%; keeping agencies and units good cultural lifestyle ones;
maintaining the title of New Rural Cultured Commune.
The commune has been recognized
as "New Rural Cultured Commune" since 2016 according to Decision No. 1227/QD-UBND
dated March 29, 2016 of People's Committee of Long Thanh district. The communal
Culture House and sports area meret the standards of the Ministry of Culture,
Sports &Tourism:
The communal Culture Center
covers 3,000 m sq., with construction area of 574 m sq., the Center Hall can
accommodate 150 seats.
Sporting activities: There is a
football field in the commune of An Lam hamlet, with an area of 9,413.1 m sq.
; Artificial football field in Hamlet 1, area 4,553.5 m sq.; establishing and
maintaining effective operations of 5 clubs, including the Karatedo Martial Arts
Club, the Zen Mediation Club at the communal Culture Center; the Trong Nghia
Table Tennis Club in Hamlet 2, the Gymnastic Club in Hamlet 4 and Fitness Club
Phu Tran in Hamlet Xom Goc.
Sports and fitness movement among
the people has developed, encouraging people to participate in morning
exercises. The model of sports and fitness family has been replicated; teams and
groups of talented in physical training and sports are formed, regularly taking
part in competition exchanges between hamlets and other communal units in the
district.
+ Education and training:
In the commune there are one
Secondary School, one Primary School and one kindergarten, in which the
kindergarten meets national standards; maintaining the target of educational
universalization, the rate of graduating from secondary school, completing
primary school; and the number of preschool children mobilized to attend class
every year has exceeded the district’s assigned targets.
+ Healthcare:
Long An commune’s health station
covers 1,664.7 m sq., recognized to meet the national standards. The station
has 7 staff members, including one doctor, 2 general practitioners, oe midwife,
one pharmacist; one nurse and one population official; ensuring the direct
examination and treatment for people; having midwives in charge of obstetrics
and gynecology examination and treatment at the station; and effectively
implementing the National Health Programs and proactive prevention of epidemics.
Long An commune is located in the
planned industrial development area, along with Long Thanh town and Long Duc
commune and also acts as a gateway to Nhon Trach city in the future. Thus Long
An will be a township or a small-scale clean industrial park, very convenient
for trade and services development.
7.
COMMUNICATIONS
Currently, the local information
system is quite developed, all domestic, local and international news is
disseminated to each locality, and especially information about
science-technology and weather is timely popularized.
8. MINERAL RESOURCES
Due to the geographical
structure, so far rare and precious mineral resources in the locality have not
been discovered, mainly stone and gravel for construction materials. According
to the results of surveying and developing land maps, the whole commune has 3
main soil groups and is divided into 8 grade-III land units as follows:
+ Deep, potential
Endophotothionic Gleysols: 289.52 ha, accounting for 8.56 percent of the
natural area, mainly located in the west, in Xom Goc hamlet and Hamlet 1, having
been formed by new alluvium, flooded on most days of the year, suitable for wet
rice.
+ Very poor base, light
mechanical gray soil, (Venti-Arenic Acrisols): 665.62 ha, accounting for 19.67
percent of the natural area, located in Hamlet 3 and part in Hamlet 2; this soil
formed on ancient alluvial, light mechanical poor base but located in high
drainage terrain, thick soil layer suitable for many crops.
+ Light yellow, light mechanical
gray soil (Chromi Arenic Acrisols): 421.77 ha, accounting for 12.46 percent of
the natural area, only in Long Thanh rubber farm, located in high drainage
terrain, suitable for a wide variety of crops, especially perennial industrial
plants with deep root systems.
+ Endohyperferric Acrisols: 13.5
ha, accounting for 0.4 percent of the natural area, located in Xom Goc hamlet,
most of which is used for construction land, and the rest is for cashew growing.
+ Gleyic gray soil, light
mechanized (Areni - Gleyic Acrisols): 743.86 ha, accounting for 21.98% of the
natural area, distributed in Xom Goc area, Hamlet 1 and along Dong Hu stream.
This land is suitable for wet rice; In the areas along Dong Hu stream in Xom Goc
and Hamlet 1, crops can be grown during dry season or early rainy season.
+ Deep, high agglomeration gleyic
gray soil, (Endohyperferri - Gleyic Acrisols): 578.64 ha, accounting for 17.10
percent of the natural land, located in Trau hamlet, used to grow rice, cashew
and vegables. This land is suitable for one rice crop, one vegetables model.
+ Shallow, high agglomeration
gleyic gray soid (Epihyperferri- Gleyic Acrisols): 61.16 ha, accounting for 1.81
percent of the natural area, located in Xom Trau hamlet, currently used to grow
cashew and vegetables.
9. TRADITIONAL
PRODUCTS AND HANDICRAFT
Current local products are
dominated by rubber trees, agricultural crops such as coffee, pepper, cashew,
and fruit trees including durian, rambutan, orange, tangerines and so on.
