1. Major Development Goals:
Long Tans’ economic structure until 2020:
Agriculture: 50%; Small industry and handicrafts: 10%; Trade and services: 40%;
Income per capita: VND6,000,000/year; Mobilization of development investment
capital: VND5,000,000,000 including VND2,000,000,000 VND from people; Proportion
of tax and fee mobilization into the State budget has increased by an average of
5.5% annually.
Over 95% of households have gained an access to
electricity and clean and hygienic water and poor households reduce to 3%. The
growth rate of population by 2005 will reach below 1%, laborers with stable jobs
account for 70%, and seasonal workers account for at least 29%.

2. Agriculture - Forestry – Fishery:
According to the planning for land use until 2020:
+ Developing annual crop production areas with
sugarcanes and vegetables; building sugarcane material areas with a total area
of 800 ha; and building a vegetable growing area of approximately 200 ha.
+ Selecting perennial crops that suit the locality
such as mangosteens, rambutans, specialty crops, and Thai mangoes with the area
of about 100 hectares.
+ Maintaining and stabilizing herds of water
buffaloes, cows, and poultry and increasing the size of pigs.
3. Trade - Services - Tourism
Long Tan creates favorable conditions for
organizations and individuals of all the economic sectors to invest in
production and business activities in the field of trade and services; and for
production and business facilities to establish new ones or invest in expanding
their scale with various forms of bringing goods and services to the
countryside.
