1. Geographic location:
Long Giao commune’s map:
Long Giao commune is the center of Cam My district
and is newly established with a total natural land area of 3,227,6883 ha,
accounting for 6.89% of the district’s total natural land area:
- Long Giao borders on Bao Binh commune and Xuan Loc
district to the east.
- Long Giao borders on Xuan Que and Xuan Duong
communes to the west.
- Long Giao borders on Xuan My commune and Lang Lon
commune in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to the south.
- Long Giao borders on Nhan Nghia commune to the
north.
2. Administrative units:
Long Giao is divided into 3 hamlets and 1 zone with
the strength of agricultural production and its main crops are cashew, coffee,
and durians. The hamlets in the commune include:
- Hoan Quan hamlet has an area of 1,405.6261 ha.
- Suoi Ca hamlet has an area of 645.9381 ha.
- Suoi Ram hamlet has an area of 748.7249 ha.
- Hill 57 has an area of 513.8125 ha.
3. Terrain:
Long Giao has an uneven terrain with many hills and
mountains. The commune has about 50% of the area with a slope of 0-800 and the
rest is a slope of 100 or more, especially in the area of Hill 57 and in the
places along streams with a rather high slope of 200-250 and some places are
higher than 250.
Due to such a terrain, the water retention is good,
which is not affected by fast currents.
The arrangement of construction works, transport
development as well as the organization of concentrated residential areas are
very favorable, which has significantly reduced the reinforcement of
construction works.
4. Climate:
Long Giao is in a sub-equatorial climate, so it is
clearly characterized by a humid tropical monsoon climate:
+ The temperature is quite high and varies between
the seasons of the year with an average of 25 Celsius degrees.
+ Humidity: an average of 80%-90% in the rainy
season and 70%-75% in the dry season.
+ Rainfall: the weather is divided into two distinct
seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season starts from May
to November, and the dry season starts from December to April next year; the
average rainfall is 1,800–2,500 mm/year; the number of sunny hours throughout
the year is 2,615.5 hours. In March, the highest number of sunny hours is 280
hours.
+ Wind: there are 2 main seasons: the northeast
monsoon in the dry season and the southwest monsoon in the rainy season. The
average speed is 2-3 m/s with the maximum speed of 25-30 m/s. Long Giao is less
affected by storms and the frequency of storms is very low.
The humid tropical climate, monsoons, heavy rain,
and high hours of sunshine are suitable for the farming of crops and domestic
animals.
