Socio-economic reality

 

1. AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY AND FISHERY

 

The agricultural area of Hang Gon is 2,995.9 ha. Most of the agricultural land is planted with such fruit trees as durians, rambutans and mangosteens.

 

The raising of cattle and poultry in the commune has still been maintained with herds continuing to increase towards industry and expansion on a farm scale, focus on mechanizing the cleaning process of cages and stables, and strengthening a strict control over the activities of slaughtering and transporting cattle and poultry.

 

Hang Gon’s forestry land area is 41.47 ha.

 

2. SERVICES - TRADE - TOURISM

 

Hang Gon’s services and trade activities have basically met people’s demand for goods and services with a stable buying and purchasing power. To date, there have been 334 business and production facilities.

 

Industry - small industry and handicrafts: 39 facilities

 

Trade and services: 295 facilities.

 

3. EDUCATION

There are 4 schools in the commune: Hang Gon secondary school, Hung Vuong primary school, Le Thi Hong Gam primary school and Hang Gon kindergarten. 3 out of 4 schools that have been recognized to meet standards for the national schools are Hung Vuong primary school, Hang Gon secondary school and Le Thi Hong Gam primary school. In 2018, Hang Gon kindergarten continued to pour investment in its construction with a total budget of over VND50 billion and be the basis for the construction of a national standard school in late 2018.

 

The number of teachers according to each level of grade:

+ Hang Gon secondary school: 32 teachers.

+ Le Thi Hong Gam primary school: 8 teachers.

+ Hung Vuong primary school: 39 teachers.

+ Hang Gon kindergarten: 25 teachers (7 preschool teachers and 18 kindergarten teachers).

The number of health workers at the commune’s medical station: 9

The information on Hang Gon’s medical station: the station has met the national medical standards since 2013.

 

Hang Gon’s medical station has been proactive enough to maintain a permanent policy at the station, and provide medical examination and treatment. It always raises the spirit and attitude of service towards patients and improves its medical examination and treatment. Also, Hang Gon medical station has been fully equipped with basic medical equipment to ensure normal medical examination and treatment. As a result, the number of people going to the station for examination and treatment increases compared to the previous year.

 

5. CULTURE

+ The information on Hang Gon’s cultural house: Hang Gon has a center of culture, sports and community learning; cultural houses of hamlets (3/3) that are combined with science and technology information points to regularly maintain its activities to meet people’s needs for enjoying cultural value.

+ Hang Gon’s cultural post office is located in Hang Gon hamlet and Hang Gon commune also has such task as providing public postal services and other business services; organizing activities like reading, newspapers and publications; receiving and implementing programs and projects for local information and communication development and local authorities’ other programs and projects.

+ Hang Gon’s cultural activities: organizing activities like disseminating information - propaganda - education about the Party’s guidelines and policies and the State’s laws.

 

- Participating in cultural exchange activities, artistic and musical performance, and sporty competitions inside and outside the commune; building bookcases for people from all walks of life; and effectively maintaining such activities as reading books and newspapers, giving consultancy and encouraging education for people’s children to fight against social evils.

 

- Organizing such classes such as dance, music, martial arts, and so on; regularly holding monthly and quarterly activities for clubs, teams, and groups to make more specific work plans; regularly training to improve techniques and skills to participate in the contests organized by the township; and having exchanges with other units.
