It is necessary to actively prevent and control the
diseases on cattle and poultry
According to the reports by local veterinary
agencies, the diseases on cattle and poultry in recent years have developed
complicatedly and shown a tendency to rise in the last months of the year, which
has affected the development of livestock, food safety and hygiene, and the
public health. To urgently prevent and control the diseases on cattle and
poultry effectively, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development asked the
Chairmen of the People’s Committees of the province and cities to synchronously
take measures to prevent and combat epidemics, especially focus on carrying out
such solutions as instructing farmers how to take preventive measures; strictly
apply technical measures in all biological livestock activities, good livestock,
hygiene and disease prevention; enhance the construction of cattle and poultry
livestock areas free of diseases; direct the provincial Department of
Agriculture and Rural Development and levels of districts’ authorities to review
and implement vaccination programs effectively, especially for such dangerous
infectious diseases as foot and mouth disease, bird flu, rabies, blue ear
disease, and so on. Simultaneously, it is necessary to hold an action month for
cleanup and disinfection from December 20, 2018 to January 20, 2019 in the areas
where outbreaks occurred and where there is a high density of livestock areas,
markets and slaughtering facilities, and so on; revise the veterinary affairs at
grassroots levels, overcome the shortcomings in the prevention of animal
diseases as required; strengthen the active supervision of the epidemics on
cattle and poultry, especially in the high-risk areas; detect and strictly deal
with the cases of concealment and non-declaration, resulting in a widespread of
diseases and causing pressing issues for people and communities; and strengthen
the quarantine and control of the transport of animals and animal products into
and out of the province.
