1. Population and labor
The entire ward is home to 4,179
households with 21,965 people, of which 9,290 are at working age, mainly young
and manual labor working for factories and industrial parks.
2. Land
The total land area is 342.54
hectares including 71.81 hectares of agricultural land, making up 20.97 percent
of natural land, and 270.72 hectares of non-agricultural land, accounting for
79.03 percent of natural land.
Agricultural land
- Agricultural land measures
71.81 hectares, which consists of:
- 61.60 hectares of agricultural
production land, occupying 17.99 percent of agricultural land;
- 10.21 hectares of aquaculture
farming, making up 2.98 percent of agricultural land, mainly used for freshwater
fish farming.
Non-agricultural land
Non-agricultural land covers
270.72 hectares, accounting for 79.03 of natural land, including:
- 149.73 hectares of residential
land, making up 43.71 percent of non-agricultural land. The residential land is
mainly located along main routes and residential areas. In addition, there are
residences scattered within agricultural production land.
- 71.19 hectares of specialized
land, occupying 20.78 percent of non-agricultural land, mainly used for
non-agricultural business purposes.
- 4.01 hectares of religion and
belief land, making up 1.17 percent;
- 5.40 hectares of cemetery land,
accounting for 1.58 percent;
- 0.5 hectares of other
non-agricultural land, occupying 11.64 percent.
General assessment
Land potential of the ward is not
great but favorable to production and there are paddle fields, rivers and
streams and natural specialized water surfaces.
Pursuant to Decision No.
227/2003/QD-TTg dated November 6, 2003 of the Prime Minister on adjusting the
general planning of Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province until 2020, the
administrative - cultural - trade - services center of Bien Hoa city is set to
be located in Thong Nha ward.
Pursuant to Decision No. 825/
QD.UBT dated January 16, 2006 on adjusting the 1/2000 master plan of Thong Nhat
ward, almost 85 percent of the entire ward has to be relocated for carrying out
projects of Bien Hoa city.
Through the adjustment and
implementation of the master planning the ward’s economic structure must be
changed toward trade and services, and agricultural production is mostly Go Me
Agricultural Production Cooperative, which has been transformed into an entity
of urban agriculture and ecology in combination with services.
