Long Hung is a small island ward, located along the Dong Nai
River. It has only one village road going stretching 3 km. In the east it borders
Phuoc Tan commune; in the west it is adjacent to Dong Nai River and District 9,
Ho Chi Minh City; in the south it borders Tam Phuoc commune; in the north it
borders An Hoa commune. The natural land area is 1,124 hectares. The entire commune
has 1,713 households with a total population of 6,958 people. Long Hung ward
used to be a agriculture-specific commune, with a low rate of trained workers,
and career structure dominated by agriculture, small fisheries, cattle raising,
duck raising, and fish farming. Several households make bricks. People’s life
faced a lot of difficulties.
Since 2008, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee
issued a Decision 2771 to acquire more than 2 million m2 of land in Hung Long
commune, Long Thanh district (present-day Bien Hoa city) and made DonaCoop
Group an investor to build the Long Hung Open Economic Urban Zone. Currently it
is in the first stage (clearance compensation, site clearance and project infrastructure
construction). People's life faces many difficulties due to a lack of farming
land, inability of adapting to new life and changed residence (the resettlement
area).
- With its economic orientation, potential and development,
Long Hung ward is poised to upgrade Long Hung city and build satellite urban
areas such as Long Hung Urban Area in Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province with a
total area of more than 1,100 hectares that is divided into 3 projects
including Long Hung Urban Area, Water Front Project, Aqua City Project. The
project’s master plan has been approved and is in the process of ground leveling.
According to the master plan, Long Hung plans to develop
into Long Hung Open Economic Urban Area with an area of about 899.35
hectares, divided into three component projects, with a total investment of
nearly VND25,000 billion. Dong Nai Union of General Agricultural Service Cooperatives
(Donacoop) and two other joint ventures.
Long Hung Residential Area has completed
construction of roads in zone 1, zone 2, zone 3 (roads are asphalted , with
subway systems, trees and water supply) with a total length of 13,100 m; 2,000 m
long construction of embankments along zone 1, 2, 3 have been constructed. Most
of the people affected by the project been provided resettlement. In addition,
the investor has been leveling ground and investing in internal traffic
infrastructure, and roads connecting National Highway 51.
