At present, the province’s total pig herds have
reached over 2 million heads
According to the report by the provincial Department
of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province’s total herd of pigs has
reached over 2 million heads, up by 14% compared to the beginning of 2020.
Despite the diseases in livestock activities, especially the province’s raising
pig has basically become stable, but supply has not been able to meet the
demand, which makes hog prices in the market continuously stand at a high level.
Due to complicated weather conditions since early
this year, prolonged hot weather, and a sharp decline in water resources in
reservoirs, compared with the same period last year the cultivation area
decreased by 2%, mainly in annual crops. In April, the province had 3 times of
rain and thunderstorms that collapsed and blown away the roofs of 30 houses, and
160 hectares of crops were damaged.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of
disadvantages to both production and consumption of agricultural products and to
the implementation of some professional tasks of the agricultural sector; caused
a series of agricultural products to fall sharply, which has made farmers face
various difficulties and affected the sector’s growth. Also, many projects on
irrigation, forest evaluation, supplying and installing water purification
equipment for small households and so on are behind schedule or are encountering
problems or difficulties that need to be settled.
In particular, arranging fish rafts in Tri An lake
according to the new planning has not been able to ensure the progress,
relocation work has been faced up with many difficulties, and so on.
Under the direction of Vice Chairman of the
provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Chanh, the agricultural sector needs to
strengthen its inspection and supervision and concentrate on increasing pigs
herd to achieve the goal of restoring the total number of 2.5 million pigs in
late 2020; localities must actively implement the goal of a newly improved
countryside district and a newly enhanced rural province to early complete the
objectives set out in the coming period.
